Alex Moskowitz, Ph.D.

Principal Consultant

Alex has spent his career researching, designing, and deploying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models, with a particular focus on high-risk scenarios and validation of models on autonomous systems. He has developed software to prevent collateral damage during air strikes, avoid collisions between drones and crewed aircraft, detect errors in scientific documents, and assist astronauts in recovering from spacecraft failures. His work has been transitioned into successful US government programs and even deployed on the International Space Station.

Alex received his Ph.D. in 2021 from Carnegie Mellon University, has published numerous research papers, and has presented on AI at industry, academic, and government conferences.

In his free time, Alex enjoys leading astronomy observing sessions at the Kamin Science Center.

Policy on AI-generated Content

All of the text that we produce is 100% human-written. We may use AI to catch typos or identify areas where improvement is needed, but changes are not directly suggested or implemented by any AI model.

We will occasionally use AI-generated images to enhance the visual design of our content, but all diagrams and figures are drawn by humans.

Policy on AI-generated Software

We use AI tools during software development to: generate "boilerplate" code (e.g., common function calls or patterns that are found identically across codebases); improve code quality; improve documentation and formatting; and generate synthetic test data. In order to assure code function and performance, we manually establish software tests for all modules and models that we create.

Policy on AI-powered Research

We use AI tools to perform custom searches and save time sifting through lists of results, increasing the completeness of our research. We use AI summaries to identify promising sources, but always use information directly from the original source.
